Coins are: 1, 5, 10, 25 & 50 Kurus and 1 TL

You would not have to obtain currency before travelling to Turkey. Exchange rates are usually much better in Turkey and all international airports have exchange offices. You may exchange without commission in exchange offices, all banks or on hotel front offices.

Travellers' cheques can only be exchanged in banks. So be careful if you bring cheques.

ATM machines are available in public areas, where major credit cards and debit cards are accepted. Many ATM machines give instructions in English, so you may easily withdraw cash.
